I remember the early lesson of this course was about Hyperreading and hyperwriting,which mean we could link articles from other websites and share it to others.This is quite interesting but we have to be careful since we do not own the authority and copyright of those articles or pictures.But we could quote the name of the author and the websites.

I love the designs of love because I think that anything related to love is meaningful and romantic. Therefore I have put some picture using love as topic.

Netspeak is one of the topic in our class. People don't use formal English nowadays.They tend to use short forms and acronyms since they are more convenient for people to use.These situation is often occured in Facebook and Youtube these sorts of platforms.

I use netspeak too because it is faster to type words in short forms. " BTW","C U TMR'',''OIC","G8" etc are the most polular short forms that people would use. And I think it's quite funny and it has become a new method for the young generation to communicate.


The online culture was mentioned in the course. This culture of course is different from the culture in the real world. On the internet, some concepts and ideas are always exaggerated or modified by people. For example, some people will never use a real name or give real personal information when using the internet.




Talking about the internet, many people have a tendancy of playing online games like The Sims and Super Mario.

People enjoy playing computer games because they are interesting and relaxing. Nowadays' online games have developed to a new situation. People could communicate with others in the games. As long as we can control ourselves from spending too much time on these games, I think it is ok for people to play online games since it helps communicate in a certain extent.


All in all, I've learned quite a lot of communicating skills on the Internet. This is an interesting course and I would introduce to my classmates who haven't studied in this course !!! ; )

In last lesson,we learned about the impact games have brought.Many evidences show that computer games usually bring bad effects to young people. Actually,it depends on the player itself.

If I have a chance to create a game,I would definitely create a game which aims at telling people how to protect the nature.It's because the programme I'm studying is called Environmental Policy Studies.

In the lesson, My groupmates and I imagined a game called
"I'm the God!". In the game,the player is assumed to be the God. The background of the game is that the people everywhere are destroy our nature like logging and building skyscrappers.The player has to make decision and solution to solve the problems.We agree that this kind of games would be meaningful since it teaches people how to save our environment. But honestly ,this game could hardly be made due to the fact that seldom young generation would have the sense of preserving our nature.

But I think nowadays' video games should be like that way.They should change peoples' mind positively due to the fact that many people are addicted to computer games.If these games only provide players excitement but nothing important,they would give bad effects on the young people.
Also,the It is easier for computer games to attract young people's attention rather than books since it is more interesting. Therefore, I think those companies should make a good use of this advantages.


By the way,video games have changed people's idea and behavior.And we should think about how to use it as a tool to help ourselves to be a good person.

A test ...

We had a test this week.It's the first quiz of our course!! And actually this is the first test in my semester too!!! Fortunately it's not too difficult for me since all of the questions are related to our digital life. haha...
We've also discussed the topic of our project during the class.At first we thought about "forum" but it seems too boring and we can't find many special characteristics of it.Therefore we decided to do another topic.


This time I would like to share my school life with you guys. I finally found that my school life is exactly amazing!!! Because the relationship between me and my classmates are getting better and better.We're like a family right now and I really enjoy it!!

However, the projects are coming very soon.I feel a little bit tired of doing them because it seems like endless!!! But I will at least try my best to do because I can't let my GPA down and let my group down since most of them are teamwork !!

Online writing is quite interesting !!

In today's lesson we've talked about "Online writting". It's quite different from the normal writting because we tend to use more informal words when typing on the Internet. Nowadays, not only do we use some short forms instead of tranditional writting, but we also use some kind of symbols to help visualise our feelings.


:D , =P , ^^ , @.@ , T~T , LoL , ORZ , IMAO , CU , TTYL


These are the symbols that teenagers are familiar with. Some of them are facial expression while some are the short forms of phrases.In fact, I think this kind of symbols are quite interesting and convenient because we can type them quickly. I use them on my facebook sometimes since it has become a trend for the young generation.This may be a new method for us to communicate and a new culture for us to explore.

The funny moment :D

In the digital world ,our thoughts and ideas could be marked easily through scripts, audio and videos etc. We use photos to express our feelings instead of only typing words because the visual appearance is more interesting and attractive than words.It captures the audience's attention and help them realize the whole contents immediately.


It's ture!! Pictures and video are a lot more easier for me to understand the meaning of it rather than asking me to read the paragraphs.For example, I think the former will be more exciting if you ask me to choose between Harry Potter the movies and the book series of Harry Potter.


I like to share some funny pictures to my friends too since facebook has become a trend. I don't need to use a bunch of words to describe the situation because the photos show them what is happening exactly.

My digital life !! :D

Hi everyone !!! =D
I'm Jill !!!

This is the first time I use a blog to share my views,but it might be a good beginning to let my schoolmates know more about me!!!
I used ICQ to connect with my friends when I was little.But I guess nobody is using it now because it is outdated !! Everybody is using MSN and facebook to communicate , so am I !!!
Like other teenagers ( actually I am already 20 ..haha) , I like to upload my status on facebook. It's more funny when you can give your feedbacks immediately to your friends' photos or statement.

I admit that the first week of my school life for me is a little bit confusing. But everything is getting better now.I am taking a GE course called " The New literacies for the information age ". I had no idea what this is about at first.But after these 2 tutorial classes I understood that nowadays digital invention really change our life a lot!! ( Our professor had asked us to bring a laptop but we could only have our smart phones instead. See !! It proves that nowsdays digital life could be a lot more convenient to us!!)
 I would like to explore more detailed topics such as the good and the bad influence of today's digital world.
It's nice to use a blog to type something and I think this is my first college homework so I am a bit nervous!!
